We are pleased to announce that the date and time for our Freedom Celebration dinner for ex-offenders, who have returned to the community, has been set. This event will be held at The Haven at First & Market Thursday, September 9th, from 6-8:00 p.m. This celebration will provide ex-offenders the opportunity to come together, support one another, and network with local agencies and members of the community.

We are hoping that you will be able to join us in this opportunity to acknowledge their accomplishments and possibly assist with questions or challenges they may currently have. A resource table will be available for any information and handouts that you feel would be of benefit to ex-offenders and their families.

Although an RSVP is not required, if you do plan to attend, please let us know so that we can have an estimated count in preparation for the meal.

Voicepaper’s monthly workshop series is an extension of the Art program that began at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail in the spring of 2009.

Art History Professor and local artist, George Andrews, in collaboration with Esther Lozano, a 4^th year UVA Art History student as well as Yoga instructor work together in forming these classes that unite this population in developing the study and creation of artwork. This workshop will seek to enhance self-awareness and creative expression through individual and group projects.

Voicepaper features guest artists, demonstrations, and art history discussions, all in the service of making theme based art work to be shown throughout the city.
