As a veteran player in the music industry Lydia Evette Harris is known not only as a seasoned businesswoman but more notably the "Lady Boss" of the hip hop industry. In establishing her poignant career as a record label CEO several years ago, the Houston Texas native went on to achieve notable success as the co-owner of Death Row Records, in addition to her current production companies Keeping the Dream Alive Productions (K.D.A.) and Dream On Productions (D.O.P.). The latter two companies are responsible for the release of the 2002 docudrama Welcome To Death Row, and for the forthcoming biography entitled Married To The Game. Lydia Harris new found fame includes the restructuring of “Lady Boss Entertainment”, “Platinum Boss Entertainment”, along with new talents like; “Celesta Williams”, “Josh & JB”, and “ROSE’” just to name a few.

My new book "Married To The Game" is available thru Walkenhorst book distributors, who sell books to imates in prison's around the country. Lydia Harris tells a remarkable story which is simultaneously sad and encouraging. Hearing her speak of her dealings in the music business I couldn't help but think of and ultimately compare her with another pioneering business woman. The personality and accomplishments of Mrs. Harris are remarkably similar to those of Effa Manley "The Queen of Negro League baseball." Like Mrs. Manley, Lydia Harris entered a male dominated field and successfully made her mark. Both overcame rumors and inuendo to leave a lasting legacy sprinkled with class and glamour.

As for her husband Michael Ray Harris, much has been written but little if any of it focuses on the remarkable legitimate career Harris built both before his incarceration.
