Reentry Freedom Celebration: dinner for ex-offenders

Friday, August 27th, 2010

Freedom Celebration Flyer (PDF)

We are pleased to announce that the date and time for our Freedom Celebration dinner for ex-offenders, who have returned to the community, has been set. This event will be held at The Haven at First & Market Thursday, September 9th, from 6-8:00 p.m. This celebration will provide ex-offenders the opportunity to come together, support one another, and network with local agencies and members of the community.

We are hoping that you will be able to join us in this opportunity to acknowledge their accomplishments and possibly assist with questions or challenges they may currently have. A resource table will be available for any information and handouts that you feel would be of benefit to ex-offenders and their families.

Although an RSVP is not required, if you do plan to attend, please let us know so that we can have an estimated count in preparation for the meal.

The Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail in conjunction with the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library will be hosting an Inmate Art Exhibit in conjunction with “First Fridays” and as part of CHARLOTTESVILLE’S CELEBRATION of the BOOK and THE BIG READ. Opening night is Friday March 5, 2010 from 6-7:30 p.m. The exhibit is on located on the third floor of the library and will be on display through Wednesday March 31, 2010.

The Inmate Art Program here at Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail offers our offenders an opportunity to express their creative talents in a variety of ways. Local artists Lindsay Freedman, Esther Lozano, and George Andrews volunteer as instructors and facilitate classes for approximately 150 students per year.

At Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail, we encourage and provide the opportunity for our offenders to utilize and identify their many talents, gifts and skills that they have in a way that promote productive citizenship and community service.  View More Inmate Art
